Author's Note
I started out simply wishing to write an exciting story - and I hope I have succeeded.
However, I needed to do quite a bit of research, and I was amazed at the things I found out in the process.
I discovered that Gloucestershire (where the story is set) alone spent upwards of £30 million a year on the legal and social costs of drug abuse.
I noted the conviction of a local drugs baron who had made an estimated £29 million in profits.
I saw responsible estimates that as much as half the crime in the country was attributed to illegal drug trafficking and abuse.
When all this as added to the misery and despair that drug addiction causes to the individuals and their families who become involved, then it gives much to think about.
CRACKSCAM does not attempt to moralise or suggest answers; but it is perhaps sobering that the incidents that occur in the story, far from being exaggerated or unlikely, are more firmly based in reality than I for one realised.
CRACKSCAM is now available on Kindle, and is linked with
The WOOLSACK CONSPIRACY which is another action-thriller set in the Cotswolds.
